Al-Taj News – Everton deepened the wounds of its host Newcastle United after defeating it 1-0 on Monday at the conclusion of the ninth round fixtures of the English Football League, increasing the pressure on the hosts’ German coach Matthias Jaissle.
Frenchman Thierno Barry scored the match’s only goal four minutes into the second half, capitalizing on a rebound from Czech goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, granting his team its second victory over Newcastle within five days, having previously beaten them 3-1 in the fourth round of the League Cup.
Everton raised its tally to 13 points in seventh place, while Newcastle’s tally remained frozen at 11 points in thirteenth place, after suffering its fourth defeat in the last five matches across various competitions.
